Well, like all good, thick-skinned crazy aspiring writers, I’m trawling through the Artists and Writers Yearbook scouting a new list of agents to submit to. I’ve compiled a relatively long list and I’m going to investigate them online via websites and so on, and then….BOOM BOOM BOOM!!! We will have a refined list of new agents to submit to and this time, I’m going for ‘mass submission’. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how many agents list email submissions as a method of sending your material in. For those of you that haven’t read it, there is a really interesting piece in the yearbook on e-books and their share of the market…
Wish me luck!
Well, all writers get them…
Have just received a rejection from the first agent book was submitted to. Here it is:
Thank you for sending me The Orchestrator and for giving me the opportunity
to consider your work.
I have read your material, but I did not feel it would be right for my list
and therefore I am unable to offer you representation.
I am sorry not to be writing with better news, but I hope this response will
not discourage you. I wish you all the best with your writing.
Being glass half full: a) nice answer within five weeks and b) looks like they read it all so the synopsis must be good enough because I’ve had others that stopped there before the rewrite.
Nose to grindstone once more.
Just a little update in case you’re interested… I still have not received a reply of any description from the agent whom I submitted my work to.
Here’s hoping that no news really is good news.
